Hi everyone. Im wondering if anyone has done business with this website yourswords.com aka Jiangu sword. youtu40_cn is an ebay vendor who says he/she is affiliated with the website. The prices seem a bit low, but some of the "high grade" chinese swords seem semi-legit. The pictures do not seem to just be cut and pasted from sinoswords/jkoo sword like some of the very shady chinese sites i have seen.
does anyone know about this seller?
Thanks for your help

Taking a quick look through, the pictures don't seem to be taken from anywhere else, and most of the photos are of consistent quality/backdrop, which is good. What worries me though, are the names on some of them. "High Grade Samurai Sword", "Mad Video Straight Knife", various swords being called a "knife" instead. However this can just be them using direct translation from google translate.
Swords look good and prices are really low...there has to be a catch somewhere.

Photographs appear to be new rather than copied, few close-ups of blades, prices vary wildly, translations need some work, Tsuba patterns/styles are not the common ones usually seen. Their listed Tachi blade does not have a correct Kissaki There is a greater than average list of Chinese traditional weapons.

I would like to know as well as I've been looking for a good place for a Jian at a decent price. Looking at some of the Jians, the weight of them are kinda high at around 4lbs. I assume they're giving the weight with the scabbard, which is useless to me.
Some of them look like they have a brass pin through the tang which is a good sign of a fairly full tang. The big thing is how they're threaded at the end and if the tang is wielded on at anypoint.
Also I'm having a hard time finding what the price difference is between many of their blades as they don't give any description of why some are more expensive.

Don't know anything of the vendor Jiangu sword. Most jians on the market are only built for very light cutting or form practice/training, and aren't combat durable at all. You can find some decent ones at Seven Stars Trading www.sevenstarstrading.com/site/huanuo/ , the Hanwei Rodell Cutting Jian and the Huawei Royal Peony are ones that have been tested by (first one actually designed by) a master of Chinese sword arts, Scott Rodell and are are quite affordable, there are more expensive models too. He doesn't sell anything that won't stand real combat use. He's handles thousands of antiques too and will only stock swords that are historically balanced and weighted, so anything from here is a safe bet in trms of durability, handling and quality.

Jiangu uses all the same photo's as Sino, they might be one and the same. I would go with Blackthorn recommendations, Huanuo has a solid reputation and sifu Rodell has tested them extensively.

Yes, Jkoo and Sino seem to be in the same bed.

Sino don't update their website that often so I wouldn't be surprised if there might be a few new swords on the Jiangu website, however the majority of thir stock inventory remains the same as far as I can tell. Quality wise, I would go with Huanuo.

Thanks for the replies. In particular the octahedral han sword jian seemed pretty good. Probably no jinshi han jian, but pretty decent looking. www.yourswords.com/chinese-sword ... d-345.html The same is listed on eBay here item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem ... 8130501695 I contacted the seller on eBay. After series of emails I had the guy agreeing to: use different fittings instead of the little tiny Han style handguard, use T10 steel and differential hardening, Not use folded steel. this seemed appealing because although I do plan on ordering one of jinshi's octahedral Han, they can't do differential hardening without also doing folded steel. No doubt that makes for a much more photogenic blade, but I have read info on SBG advising that non-folded steel with differential hardening is considered more reliable than folded steel because of the chance of inclusions of impurities in the folding process. I'm not worried about the quality of the jinshi forging process, but this cheapo version seems like maybe a good backyard beater version. Intriguingly, by losing the folded steel the price he quoted me dropped from $280 to $190. I asked him if I should contact the number at the website in order to arrange payment and because I wanted to try to speak to a live person about increasing the blade width to around 4.5 cm or so at the base (/drool). The response that I got back asked me to please just drop the money into his PayPal account. At this point my bargain-hunting instinct was overwhelmed by the distinct feeling that I was being scammed.

I forgot to say that a sketchy thing is that on eBay the guy has zero recent feedback and the most recent feedback is from 2007. There are potential explanations I can think of for that. Some of them seem semi plausible late at night when fantasizing about octahedral T10 blades with large handguards for $200. But in the light of day this seems like a too good to be true situation

Actually, Jkoo and Sinosword is the same company, it's no secret, they have two web sites, one is their old one under one name, the newer under the other. It's not meant to be anything suspicious, they are transparent and clear about it. I asked them for pricing on a custom sword, they replied with the email subject: RE: reply from JKOO SWORD(sinosword.com)The signature of their email reads as follows: TEL:86-576-88258360 88208370 FAX:86-576-88208370 MOBILE: +8613819633080 MSN Message:kkai-yang@hotmail.com LONGQUAN JKOO SWORD CO.,LTD Website1: www.chinatizon.com Website2: www.sinosword.com ADDRESS: A0038, Hangzhou building,Jiao jiang District , TAIZHOU,ZHEJIANG,CHINA 318000Mr Kane who runs the business is very good with pricing for customs, fast reply. Huanuo produces higher grade, combat quality Chinese swords, they are a notch above Sinoswords. Sinoswords specialty is budget customs, they can modify their existing models to your specifications, choice of steels, etc. I believe yourswords.com /Jiangu sword / youtu40_cn is a reseller, they appear to stock items from various Chinese forges, including Sinosword, I have seen the spearheads on Aliexpress which distributes for various Longquan forges. As Vue has already pointed out, this is the same sword here for example: www.yourswords.com/chinese-sword ... d-415.html www.sinosword.com/ProductShow/?p ... jian-sword
