Hey guys, Here is a pair of antique tiger hook swords I got, it's very scary because... cut the long speech, WATCH! can anyone explain the logic behind to me? I am confused why it cut so well but doesn't cut into the flesh when you slide it on your arm... weird. Enjoy a form too! For more pictures, see here kungfuonlineclass.com/goodweapon ... hooks.html Comments or thoughts? I love to hear them! These hooks are very tough as tested on hard targets as well, super good cutting ability and super good weight in hand.

I really like those hooks. Thanks for posting these videos. You stated they are antiques. Is there a story behind them?

Thanks! They are very sturdy and durable and scary is all I know. I bought it from a collector who own a shop that sell all kinds of goodies and she say her father is an antique collector and so basically he heard I am a kungfu crazyman and always wanted good weapons, so he shipped over a few cool stuff and I bought them all at first glance! hahaha! There is a pair of hard whip, a pair of tiger hook swords, a pair of deer horn hooks, a small hammer pair, big hammer pair..etc,.! That's all I know and they are GOOD!

Interesting, I have only ever handled the practice/wushu types of these swords. A friend of mine has one(not a pair) that he says is and antique, he basically said it was a good chopping blade becasuse of the wieght. he also has a very heavy sword about 10 lbs with beads in the center of the blade, it cuts/chops pretty well but feels dull.

10lb? That is really crazy. Mine is like 5lb each and it's already quite something. Try handling swords that are about 3lb, you already say it's heavy grade.. and anything over or about 5lb is quite something already. I doubt the hooks your friend got have 10lb on them though. The whip I got have 15lb and that make more sense.. but hooks are more like a faster weapon, can't be that heavy by logic. Also, that is one factor why I ALWAYS disagree with the link hooks swinging techniques, it is only good to do with wushu light hooks, but if you link a pair of these and swing, it is going to be a disaster by risking your own life... hahahaha...
Fun to know that your friend's antique is like that too, feels dull but cut well! fun!

MakChingYuen How much did you pay for the weapons, if you don't mind my asking? Can you get more?

They are the only pair in the store and I paid about $180 for them since it's a special deal from this vendor, they basically charge 2x or more to public for these but the vendor's father got them shipped over for me because he love my enthusiasm in kungfu, that's why it's sold very cheap to me as a special deal. I doubt there is anymore the same type, it's all hand forged and unique, you can see it because the 2 hooks are different in size, one is abit thicker and one is thinner, a lot of good signs for you to spot the forged history too. haha!

Thank you for your help. Now that I have seen your antique once, I think I might look for something in this line or even get them custom made, when money allows it.

Custom made?! wow.. you got deep pockets!
I always fear custom made stuff because I don't have a good guy who know me well and communicate well. I fear not getting what I paid for or wanted.. haha.. too scary. I prefer something pre-made and with standard or quality control. That's why I go for CS instead when it comes to sword. At least I saw their demo and so on. It can't go too bad. hahaha..
Good luck on your hooks! You will get hooked on it when you got a heavy pair!

Custom made means a friend with a CNC and then sending it to get it heat threaded = no deep pockets . Anyway, if you get any info on a antique heavy pair let me know.

Enlightenment Swords make fully functional (and sharp) Tiger Hooks, don't know how much they would cost, I guess you'll have to ask them www.enlightenmentswords.com/prod ... _hook.html
