Wow, if you haven't seen this announcement yet at my armory: www.myarmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=10507&sid=3e351dad2106a6f0ce7778e78a177b8fTo sum up: Valiant plans to produce a line based on Angus Trim sword and Christian Fletcher scabbard design prototypes aimed at a 500 dollar price point. I think its an overdue concept in a production sword, the 'whole package' of sword and historical scabbard at an obtainable price.

If they sell at sub $300 I will take a closer look. If they are going to sell upwards of $500, why not just buy direct from Trim or Flecher?

I will probably buy one or more of these $500 Valiant Armoury swords because I love Christian Fletcher's work, but the same sword/scabbard/belt design from CF on an AT blade will cost $1,200-1,500.

kriegschwert's link to the other thread (didn't know it had been mentioned already) indicates that the starting price for some swords in the new range may be $300.

According to what Gus told me...Gus? You here? ... Anyway, he's already discussed it on SFI. There are two new lines coming out of Valiant Armoury. The first is the AT/CF/VA line we've been discussing, which should start around $500. The second is a less fancy "budget" line that might squeak in at about $300, that is just a coop project with Gus and VA.

Actually, more like 4 lines once things get rolling.........
There's the "Signature Line" that you've seen photos of on myarmoury and SFI..........
There's the "Tactical and Sparring" line that Sonny Suttles mentioned on myarmoury. This one may have to be split, because the tacticals I make are very real, and very effective... and sparring swords are meant for blunt use, training, stage, and the like.........
There's the Basic lineup, {still needs a name}, that at least to begin will be once proven AT designs. The first two will be based on the old Basic Cruciform Sword that CF stocked years ago, that evolved into the AT1315. The second is a bit of a longsword, the AT1415. These will be based on AT stuff, and have plain leather scabbards, so as to get the cost of these down to where the retail price can be sub $300........
Then there'll be a fantasy line.........
There's going to be at least three forges involved...... the first one, is one I'm familiar with, and their stuff has been marketed in North America and Europe. I feel comfortable that they can do a decent job. I don't think I'm authorized yet to "name names", so you'll have to forgive me for not spilling that set of beans just yet......
Right now, there's two prototypes {the ones in the photos} on the way to China, and two more in production for the signature line.
There's two prototypes nearly ready to ship to Texas for the blunt line.
There's a tactical nearly ready.........
Then there's a couple of the Basic prototypes nearly ready too....

Guess I'll just start saving. Maybe I'll have the mint required to just buy one of everything by the time they're all out. Doubt it. ![:(](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

That looks reminiscent of the albion count! very pretty ![:)](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) (That CF should cost well over $1K and I wouldn't be suprised if it was closer to $2k.)

I did a kind of rough calculation, based on what I see, and know of CF's pricing. I get about $1,750 + shipping. But that includes the belt and suspension system. That probably won't come with the VA offering. Say...approx. $1,600 for the sword and scabbard?

CF's and my understanding is, that when the pieces come back from China they will be a package consisting of sword, scabbard, and belt.....as you see in the photo....... I suppose its possible that the belt might get lost, in a cost saving move to keep the retail under $500, but at this time, what you see is what is supposed to be available in a few months...... First two prototypes in China.......

That's one hell of a package. I wouldn't mind, though, should the belt be sacrificed. Anything to keep the price more reachable, so long as the sword itself doesn't suffer.
I remember earlier there was some concern with the quality/reputation of the Chinese company. I can't remember whether this was ever settled. Have we decided if we trust them?
