I'm aware that cold steel makes numerous spears, these among them, but I'm hoping some of you guys could point me in the direction of other manufacturers. I've been reading the Wheel of Time and the spears the Aiel use have me itching to try out their real life counterparts.

I only know of one other manufacturer who makes them, and that would be Windlass Steelcrafts ( www.kultofathena.com/product.asp ... hort+Spear) . Much cooler than the Cold Steel version, especially for an Aiel.

That actually looks very interesting. I'm considering getting just the head and fashioning the rest myself though, just because the brass wire doesn't seem like the best gripping material. plus I don't want a green hand, haha.

Well, you wouldn't hold it anywhere near the wire most of the time. I've got that spear head and mounted it on a short haft like that myself. It's not bad, handles kind of like a viking axe that you can stab with. Lol.

Cooler, yes (due to the "shovel" head on one side)...but the CS version is the "end all/be all" in this category, function and price point wise. Don't even bother looking elsewhere...game over.
