I had the rare opportunity to spend some time in the Museum Replicas showroom Monday.
I have not been there in a decade or so....since a big can of Renaissance Wax was about 5.00.
As I remember, it's quirky, which I like, lots to look at, and too much to absorb in a short time.
Customer service was very refreshing, and the young gentleman who helped me was very knowledgeable, and best of all...patient with me.
Ok, so a few very outstanding examples.
First, I like swords that feel like they are weightless, and float in your hand.
Whippy has never been something I worry about, so I cannot speak to it.
I will only speak to the positive, it was very hard to walk out and not buy a few, because I could.
Sword one:
The Raptor.
A very nice, floating, hand and a half. Nice fit and finish, I need to look for real reviews. But this was a nice surprise.
Sword two:
15th Century Longsword;
Very nice, another nice floater. Shinier than I I like, which leads to it's near twin, the:
German Bastard Sword- I'd like one of each, but I'd get this one first. (not really sure why)
Sword three (four?):
Erbach Bastard Sword:
This is a scary big sword, and it felt weightless. This is pick of the litter for hand and a half's I laid hands on Monday.
I want this one bad.
Sword (I lost count):
Medieval Falchion - for a single edged chopper, it made me drool. This is waaaayyyy better in person than in pictures.
Sword Many: (since that's higher than I can count)
Oakeshott Type XVIII Sword - a little pricey, but another nice one for the type.
Sword Many+1:
Ulfberht Sword- every bit the one handed floating scary needs to maim something the reviews say.
This is my next 1h sword. WOW nice.
Sword +2:
The OMG I did not expect this sword...
300 - Spartan Sword
One handed, it flowed, and felt like it needed to wade into a zombie hoarde. Not an armor breaker, but omg the potential for backyard bottle-death was amazing.
So this was my hour and a half. I wanted to buy a few, or all, budget and wife aggro kept me in check. But I needed to share while they were fresh in my mind.
I hope this helps a bit.
Thanks!
