I am looking for a quality stilleto that would be legal to own in NJ. I am mainly looking for a great quality mechanism that gives the classic clicking sound and will not wear out, the more traditional the better in terms of aesthetics, I would also like one that comes sharp and has a nice reflective blade. Stainless steel would be preferred for easy maintenance as I would only really be using it for show and light bottle thrusting. I'd like to keep it under 50$ but any suggestions are still welcome.

New Jersy? This is about the only legal one you can get...

An automatic is definitely out of the question, and I'm not sure what NJ's laws are on spring-assisted, but there are some nice manual-open stilettos about. Then again, there are many places where carrying a switchblade/auto is illegal, but owning one is not. I happen to live in one such state, and I do have an auto by Frank Beltrame, all the way from Italy. I just don't keep it in my pocket, and wouldn't if I could...it's just not a good all-purpose knife. It decorates my desk as a glorified letter opener...except I get no mail.
Depending on what you're after, there should be a few options out there...but you might need to look a little higher than $50. The only knives I'm seeing in that ballpark are kits. :x

Spring assist is legal in NJ and your recommendation can be over 50$ that's just what I was hoping to get one for.

I'm having a tough time this go-round of finding good-looking manual or spring-assist stilettos. They were everywhere when I went looking for a proper auto, but can't seem to find them now.
I know a forumite here did a review once on a rather nice manual model, but it had some crazy lockback desigh where the release was a giant button on the "spine" of the handle. Ugly as sin in my mind, and all I'm finding now. The lock type used on my (and most) auto is kinda tough to distinguish by photo, at least the primary mechanism, being the pin/post assembly. I've found some linerlocks, but that's just weird for a stiletto.
I guess I need to double-check, you're looking for a classic-style stiletto, right? Not one of those uber-fancy tacticool models that float around BudK and the like for $10-20?

Classic aesthetics, the mechanism isn't too important as long as it's not some guady thing that's incredibly noticeable, as I've said quality mechanism, the sound and the classic look are what I like. I'm just tired of the crappy flea market ones that look just OK and have a mechanism that doesn't lock the blade in place well and has the blade jutting out when you "sheathe" it so that the entire blade isn't covered. Any suggestion is welcome, I don't expect to find something perfect to every one of my individual wants, thanks in advance for any suggestions.
