I am looking forward to my sword arriving but it will remain pretty much stock except for the grip. Your sword is now just too pretty

Well Williams it made for a good project sword for me. Even though the pob is very far out it handles well. I actually like how it handles after all the hard work I did. Even though it is very blade heavy it is fast and recovers well. I need to do another cutting video with it because it is just so easy to get it up to speed right now. Though where you are now without a serious work bench, hm I can see what you mean. Perhaps your hand forged example will be more like Bruce's example than mine!

Looks like you put a lot of hard work into that Steven. Scabbard from Odingaard looks great Overall a handsome package with the new grip and scabbard.
I really like the overall dimensions of that sword, shame its not a little more balanced as sold. I also like the fact that you have removed the black paint or what ever it was that was on the pommel. To me, this is a perfect example where less is more...a more subtle cross, nicely engraved or possibly raised, without any paint would have looked nicer IMHO.

HI, your custom job looks good Steve and gives you something that is more a one of a kind sword. Most of my own favorites are ones I have done just for me. Clyde is out of pocket for about another week but I intend on speaking to him about covering the raised section of leather with the outer wrap as intended ( and see if they can change to cowhide ), lighten the cross and flattening the lower portion of the blade as intended. I want to apologies personally to you for allowing myself to muddy up your thread. Cheers, Bruce

Well Brylon between your grip building skills and ability to peen swords we should start a business j/k. A Dremel wire brush does wonders doesn't it? That was black paint on there. Bruce you had no need to apologize. If no one ever got into a debate no one would ever learn anything. A lot of good information on historical mail was covered here in this thread as a result. If you are going to to make changes to the sword in addition to lightening the cross guard I'd also suggest making the pommel a bit thicker, not a whole lot just a little. This will bring the point of balance a bit further back and compensate for the cross guard being lighter. I do realize that these things you are suggesting would add cost in terms of labor to properly distal taper a sword but if you could get it under $350 properly tapered from the Philippine forge you gents are using that should be a good seller. No need to apologize. Same here Bruce, the ones you touch and work on yourselves you tend to want to keep more.

Hi, Steven you did a wonderful job with this it has the looks of a fine piece indeed. The new grip and Crusader Monk scabbard are sweet he did a great job on that with the simple cross and great coloring which looks Oxblood and antique brown. Thx for the evolution of sword in great pics and great reading

That was some cool customising that you did, and now you can enjoy the fruits of your labour.

Mine arrived but with the Crusader Monk love. Reprofiled grip, new grip wrap, removed the paint on the cross and antiqued hit. Good sword for the money. Came paper cutting sharp. POB is 8 inches out so it has hitting power but is very comfortable using 2-hands. Both my hands fit on the grip. Can be used 1-handed for very short periods. Finish was not as well done on some of my previous G2/LA swords but decent.
