I recently tried to buy a Windlass Military Rapier and found that it was sold out everywhere I looked. So, to satisfy my need for a new cutty and thrusty, I found this older Windlass model and snatched it up. Just got it in and boy do I like it. The fittings are all solid, the brass feels good and solid around the hand, and the blade is a good balance of stiff and flex. I really wish Windlass would stop discontinuing models like this and the Military Rapier that I really like before I have a chance to buy them.

Glad this one got a good home. It really is a good looking piece. Windlass should bring back some more of their cut and thrust swords. I gues demand dictates which types stay active.

Congratulations, it is a very nice sword.
I second that: more cut & thrust swords! More!

That was a quick turn around. Subject cut and thrust is on its way to Petersburg.

Package from Mr Knupp arrived today. A little spruicing up from the trip and a few more candy shots: General impressions are pretty much in keeping with those expressed by Barnaum and Razor. Little over 2.5 lbs feels a bit sluggish but the balance is quite good. Sword actually handles well gripping under the quillons, German style. The over the quillon hold is a bit more secure and will improve edge alignment. Sword is double bowed on both sides! Pommel is screwed on. Not actually sharpened, but ready to take an edge. I would have prefered a 35 in blade, but the 33 is quite good in hand; solid blade. Bumped the Pappenheim out of the back room ancients and promoted it to Rapier heaven. This cut an thruster joins my other happy blades ( six of which a Windlass; three out of production).

I believe that's a Windlass Sword of the Thirty Years War, with fresh leather from Sonny Suttles at Valiant Armoury/Custom Sword Shoppe.
