Hey guys I have always loved short swords. So when I was looking for another small gladius Type sword years ago and saw the price on the Windlass Qama I had to get it. When it arrived I was surprised by how decent the blade was but hated the handle. With the black horn and annoying rivets. After a few days the handle started to feel ok in the hand and the handling actually felt really good for close up action. But still the we can all admit the handle looks like semprini and the scabbard's fit sucks. I'm not sempriniing, it's a sweet little sword for the price tag I'd just like to give it a hot looking handle and scabbard to match. I love the look and color of the H/T from Yeshua but before I started to do anything on the handle I figured I'd see if anyone else had any cool ideas or has redone the Qama them selves. Thanks guys!

It's apparently a favorite for Roman re-enactors to turn into a gladius; apparently the blade shape is very good for the purpose and the tang only requires minimal re-shaping.

Well what exactly are you trying to do with it? Keep the traditional styled handel or complete make over?

I'm open to any ideas really. Whatever looks better in the end I guess but I like to see a few examples before I start doing anything.

I was thinking something more no frills. Like a sword given to a low level gladiator in a smaller arena of the empire. But your idea is interesting. If I went with the ring I'd go with a more celtic look over roman.
