The sabre addiction is claiming more victims  A wise one said:
Joking aside, Dave do you mind sharing a quick impression on the French line infantry sword from Empire Costume? I am tempted to order one but I'm needing some info on the handling and weight.

Finally got a couple more photos top to bottom . WW1 era pattern Imperial Police sabre, British Naval Officers sabre and a British 1803 Infantry sword. Italian Officers 1826 Sabre and French 1821 Officers Sabre, Sabre for infantry officer and French 1845 Infantry Officers Sabre Lightest at the top, it compares very similar to the 1845 infantry sabre in weight and balance with a PoB at about 150mm and a blade thickness of 7mm at the guard down to 4 mm at 150mm from the point, weight wise you'll have to believe the maker as I don't have scales, it handles fairly well and the blade has much less flex than those above it and would deliver a solid thrust with very little movement, the edge is butterknife sharp and well done, I will not be sharpening this one further for cutting. It is visually a great looking sword for the price, it is well made with no rattles or loose parts with a very solid feel to it, the gilding is very well done with a Deep Blue finish and the scabbard is well made for what it is. I would have no problem buying another one of these as a gift for someone, it is that nice. From a collector's view point you might feel it to be slightly heavier than what an original would be, though it is a lot lighter than any of the cavalry sabres that I own. I just use the medium flickr setting of 640 by 362, this seem to work well with the setting I have the SBG site at.

Hi DeepblueDave
lovely pictures, would have been nice though with the1906 Cavalry Saber alone, to get a bether impression of it, since I am thinking of buying one of the Windlass reproductions

Paul it is a Jody Samson Seaward, this is one of my all time favourite swords I have been looking around for years for one of these so when this was offered to me I could not say no even though I'm trying to not buy anymore swords till all my ordered swords have come through. It did not come with a scabbard

Is anyone having trouble seeing the images on page one or is it just me, I think Flickr has messed with their setting and not told me, might have to relink each photo.
Edit.... Seems it might be my end as I can now see all the images.

Paul I'm still waiting on the new katana to clear Aussie customs, they have had it for 20 days now, I was hoping it would have been here for my birthday earlier this week, but it will be here next week hopefully as it has now been cleared and all the paperwork has gone thru. Bill I say the same thing every time I visit your page to check out your latest Acquisition.

Cpm-v3 blade is 23" with a 10" grip, I'm not really a Katana guy so I thought that this would help ease me into it kinda slow like and maybe another time get a true blue Katana.
