now... those Swiss sabers are very sexy! JT Palikko and Christian Fletcher/Ollin, right? Would be interested to hear your comparison on those two models... My understanding the Olin model is inspired by, not historical replica... while JT Palikko is more historically accurate?

Correct Junon, I think it wouldn't be fair to compare them side to side as they are in completely different price brackets as well as being made for different hands ( JT is left handed ), individually they both handle very well, stats wise they are very nearly identical.
Olin stats page www.ollinsworddesign.com/osd-custom-LCS.html
JT main page www.kp-art.fi/jt/index_eng.html
In hand the JT looks superb and is absolutely flawless with a perfect level of detail, whilst the Olin/Fletcher has a more utilitarian feel though still well done, it is on par with say Albion whilst the JT would be a Peter Johnsson.
All I need now is an A&A and Lutel to finish the set off.

Just wanted to say thanks for creating this thread. This is one of my most favorite threads on SBG! Thanks Digs, I will offer up an open invitation to come and handle them in person, so if you are ever in Australia drop me a line and we will see what we can do, I think only a few members have had a hands on tour so far, Jeff aka Aussie rabbit and Rob from Stromlo swords.

Here's another photo with Albion's Soveriegn for size, it is definitely a two hander at 51 inches. Hey Paul yep a leftie here, one of the reasons I picked this one up as left handed swords can be a pretty rare bird. I will try to get some better photo's this week end too much sun in these I think.

What Dave said...its been awhile since I looked at this collection thread. I am glad and not so glad I did. Such great stuff you have but now I want a Gallowglass even more and I need to cool my jets a bit on purchases. Not to mention you have a few other beauties I covet.

The Albion must feel absolutely fantastic in hand with that much taper, and not flimsy at all i would imagine from those almost 8mm at the base. The AA massive in comparison, not only the sheer weight, but the little taper, i wonder if those 5mm at the base make it flexible when it strikes hard targets? What are your impressions from using the two? And the application you feel they should be given. ps: Your collection is amazing, congratulations, they must bring you much joy and fun.

Svante, they both handle very well, with the Albion being a bit more nimble and quicker to recover, after using the A&A for a bit the Albion feels almost like a one hander, but in truth they both only really shine with two hands, as for flexing the Albion is the stiffer but not by much, they both only really flex in the last third of the blade. I'm only a backyard bottle cutter but I think they would handle any other cutting just fine, just to note these are in my top five most used cutting swords along with a Longship Morrigan and Verimus and an Albion Hostpitaller .

Great pickups Dave, I wondered how those sales turned out as I noticed the sellers account has been suspended.

Great pickups Dave, I wondered how those sales turned out as I noticed the sellers account has been suspended. I never understood why he did not set a reserve price instead of going though the hassle of shill bidding, I got lucky, his sheinanigans scared off most people and I got some great deals on three brand new Albions which he had only recently purchased (he left the Albion invoices on the boxes).
