Hello all you hep cats, I had some extra coin, so I decided to have Jacky at Huawei make me a replica. I had a peek around the web at sword porn, I came upon one that especially caught my eye: I told Jacky I wasn't extremely picky and obviously It's not gonna be exact, I just asked him to try to get it as close as possible. I asked for a 28" nagasa, Folded T-10, 10.5" tsuka, full black same wrap, green ito, iron fuchi, kash and tsuba (didn't care much about the fittings and ito as they'll probably get switched out), full black lacquered rattan saya and a copper habaki with rainfall pattern. I thought it'd be fun to see how close it comes out, being that Jacky's blades are getting nicer all the time, I am guessing I am gonna get a winner. Anyways, I'll keep you guys updated. Attachments:

the copper habaki interests me- I requested a coper one myself for my ken sword- should have pics of it next week. I hope I get copper not brass.

That's a nice blade Dan, is it the Anthony DiCristofano blade of the masters of fire's exhibition?
FWIW Be careful with the term 'copper' when dealing with Chinese manufacturer, most understand it as brass as well. It would be wise to make sure they understand which 'copper' you want, a pictorial sample with description would help them in this regard.

should be interesting, can't wait to see it. only thing I would have skipped is the full same wrap only because they use tanned skin for this.

Yeah I realize that, it really didn't cost anything extra for the full wrap verses panels. Shouldn't be hard for you to remove and rewrap though right?

After mulling to over a bit Josh, I e-mailed Jacky and asked for panels instead. I am guessing since they used tanned hides, the hide would be epoxied on and would either be a b**tch to remove or not removeable at all. I wouldn't want to put you through that after the gluey gooey tsuka I sent you last time

I've actually seen that DiCristofano blade in person. It's simply a work of art. Do keep us posted on how this turns out. Thanks!

so I got some pics of my sword and the habaki is brass rather than copper. Oh well- I'm not making it a big issue or asking to have it redone since I never had a conversation citing specifically that I meant copper copper, not brass copper (lol). and to be fair to Jacky and huawei I did send him a pic to explain that I didn't want the typical habaki they put on their jian/ken swords( the kind with the leaf design on it), but in the pic I drew the colour comes out yellowish on some monitors and more orangeish on others. I noticed this when I viewed it on my work computer. I actually have 2 screens at work and between those and my computer at home the colour comes out pretty different everywhere. So not worth a fuss- besides I can still alter the colour if I want to. Question- has anyone ever received pics of their sword before it's finished? The pics I have show the grip and saya as rectangular blocks still needing shaping. i772.photobucket.com/albums/yy10 ... 4d4790.jpg i772.photobucket.com/albums/yy10 ... bb556a.jpg
