I have the oppertunity to pick one up for $150...used but not cut with, from a friend.
I'm not sure what I'm looking at here though...I can't find out much information about it. I like to know what type of steel and if people are happy with it.
Any owners out there?

seems fine - this kinda han jian is for sale everywhere (including Sears lol) the price is alright - is it the folded steel version? Biggest concern is how is the tang affixed to the handle and or pommel? That'll make all the difference whether it's worth the money. Note that a diamond shaped blade and a round handle such as this can be tricky to cut with.
I have a Han Jian I tricked out so I did a lot of googling the style. You want a tang that is pinned to the grip. The thing is the wrap covers the pin if it's there. Some of the better han jians have a pin through the pommel grip and tang. Mine only had one through the tang - not bad but not the best. Mine also had a tube for a grip = not properly shaped around the tang. I filled the grip with epoxy permanently fusing the pin to the tang to the grip wood. Some only have the pommel screwed on - I like that the least imho. Some are just push tangs and for a sword length cutter that's no good imho.
If you love the style then $150 is alright, but check Zhisword first for comparisons - they have a lot of low and mid grade jian

Thanks for the input, I'll check it out.
I've handled it and it is the folded steel version, but it felt more like a big knife and not a short sword.
The blade is very thin, but scary scary sharp.
