I have been wanting one of these for about as long as I wanted the Atlantean. There has been at least one version that looked like the one from the Battle of the Mounds but for some reason the makers saw fit to emboss CONAN across the bottom of it. Like Conan would have a shield with his name on it  Luckily Windlass just came out with one that doesnt have this on it. It doesnt have the patina of a old bronze shield like in the movie. It is at least a decent replica. The shield itself is of good quality from what I can tell. The straps are securely attached and despite its listed 9lbs 4oz weight it feels really good once you slip it on. I will be repainting it to match the one in the movie but all in all I am really very happy with the shield. If you been looking for a shield like the one in the movie I say go for it. One interesting thing is Iooking at the one on the Cult of Athena website I got the one they use for the sample. www.kultofathena.com/product.asp ... ian+Shield Not that it means anything just thought it was neat

They sell a patina solution for steel to emulate that finish.

I just wish they'd skipped the faux bronze coating and put more thought into the actual shape of the thing. The embossing looks sloppy and not even very similar to the movie prop - the insignia is the same, but the execution entirely different.
