Hi guys, I got a nice delivery today, a new Fallkniven A1 from www.cuttingedgeknives.com.au Its taken me ages to decide on a new knife but it came down to a Barkriver Bravo1 and the Fallkniven A1. The stats; Total length: 280 mm (11") Blade length: 160 mm (6.3") Blade thickness: 6 mm (0.24") Tang: Full tang Weight (knife): 305 g (12 oz) Steel: Laminated. VG10 Blade hardness: 59 HRC Handle: Kraton Sheath: Leather, Black The steel was one of the things that attracted me to it, its laminated VG10 steel which I understand is manufactured in Japan. This is a substantial knife, its thick, feels very powerful and is razor sharp. Ive seen many comments on the net regarding the handle, too thin, cheap rubber etc and I wasn’t sure what to expect…. But now I have it I quite like it, its harder than I thought it would be, has a natural heat feeling (don’t think it will get that icy cold feeling) and the size fits my normal sized hands well… however if you had large hands it may feel a tad small. The balance point is where the handle meets the blade. Just a few iPhone pics. Trying to show the lamination in this pic……

Nice knife Paul, is so hard to get a good knife in Aus due to customs, that it is easier to buy retail but you have to pay top prices for it

Gorgeous knife, Paul. I'd love to get one of their blades someday, as I've only seen good things about them

Thanks guys, I’m pretty happy with it, as Dave said it’s so hard to find quality knives here, we can buy OS and save a lot but we run the gauntlet of customs. Even though this knife seems to fit in with what is legal… for a $40-$50 saving I was happy to be safe than sorry and paid the local price.

Tough choice, but I don't think you could have gone wrong either way. Beautiful and excellent knife!

That's a good blade.
As far as usability, the A1 and the Bravo 1 are same same. The A1 handle is a bit more tractable in hand than the Micarta Bravo handle.
I traded an A1 off in a deal for a custom, and have regretted having to let it go.
Congrats on a solid usable knife purchase.

i just love their thermorun handles. for those not accustomed to them, i'd say it feels like its made out of 80% plastic and 20% rubber.

nice one Paul, let us know how it works for you, I got an S1 just over a week ago - almost went the A1 but never seen one in person. S1 is great, bigger than the F1 nice fit to hand. Time will tell i guess!
