Someone needs to stop me! This is very expensive, more than I can afford. But I've told myself for several years that if I ever found a real one in this great of condition, and exactly the design I want, I'd find a way to buy it. www.oriental-arms.com/photos.php?id=5148SOMEONE STOP ME!!!!

I'll stop you. ::Takes the sword and swings its flat side into a lamp post.::
The patterns in the fold lines were pretty amazing, though. Too bad it's broken now, and you can't get it.
Don't forget, $3,800 is almost a down payment on a brand new car for your kid's 16th/18th birthday!

Make the kid buy his own car. Get the sword.

Well... um... hey, it's missing its scabbard! You don't want that. Hold out for a complete set, man.

Can they certify the date on this? If you get it appraised for a different date will they take it back at their rate? It is beautiful. Just don't get stuck on a modern forgery. Seen a couple around in silver that are better and with a scabbard.
It is a nice piece, if it's really period late 18th early 19th.

Good points Dave. I am shying away from it, as much for the price and international purchase without a solid means of preappraisal as anything. That, and I don't have the spare cash. BTW, thanks for the other justifications. But no kids to complicate the issue. My big commercial mower just blew its engine and I'm expecting a $1,600 bill for it next week. We'll just call that the reason I am avoiding this one. But damn...it sure is pretty.....

This blade looks awesome but I'd want to have it appraised before shelving near 4k $ ...
My 2 cents on that.
