i need to know what steel to use ive make annealed & hardened knifes ive never make a sword i think 20 =25 in blade single edge possible to hand style something like 1/12 = 2 in wide

A2 and O1 tool steels are popular. I like A2, but just about every youtube video I've seen they are using O1. 5160 spring steel is something I'de like to use in the future. here's a link that may be usefull www.sword-manufacturers-guide.co ... teels.html o1 is a very good knife steel and it's the only steel i use for knives,but from what i know it's not a good choice once you start to go onto longer blades,1045 would be a good beginners sword steel good luck and post pics of what you come up with

I use 56Si7, a spring steel. In America it is known as 9260. Great steel. In the end it's more about the heat treat.
