So I have heard that the Scottish claymore and basket hilt broadsword by hanwei are good swords for the money but I was just curious to whether which one more experienced hobbyists would recommend for a new collector. I like the look of both but are there any suggestions on which one to buy. Also if you know of swords similar to these in a similar price range you would recommend more please let me know. Thank you Alec M

I am in the same boat and look forward to more experienced opinions. On my end I have tried a few other forums, user reviews and YouTube. Hanwei seems to be it before you jump up in price.

Both are decent swords, if not *terribly* historically accurate. The basket-hilt is more accurate, but the claymore has some issues. They will both perform fine, though, and honestly they're probably the ONLY really good Scottish swords in the sub 300's!
