So, is there any good place to find just the baskethilt and pommel of a good Scottish Baskethilt? I have a nefarious scheme in mind to put the blade from one of these kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=SH2404 in it to generate a nice baskethilted claymore for less than a custom would run. Saw a thread a while back of someone who had done something similar with the same blade, and seemed to work and handle well. So, any info on where to find just a basket and pommel would be awesome, thanks in advance. |

I think armourclass has just baskets in stock for a reasonable price. I'd contact them and ask their baskets seem to be their highest quality work and much better than their blades.

You could consider using the Hanwei Cromwell blade instead, hear that's a good one. Unfortunately you can't buy it separately by itself, as far as I know, but if you already have a Cromwell, well hey then...

I don't, sadly, the reason for the type XII blade is twofold, one, readily available on it's own, and two, highland Broadsword has some I:33 roots, so it didn't seem too inappropriate for a blade suitable for I:33 to be mounted in one.
Also, I have an armor class schiavona, and the hilt/basket is much nicer than the blade, I'll see if they have any baskets in stock.

I thought of doing the same thing when the H/T single hand sword bare blade first came out. The cheapest way to get a basket, is to get one of these. kultofathena.com/product.asp?ite ... Back+Sword You are going to have to do some modifications to get them to fit together. I tried to see if the blade would fit so I could swap the training blade with the sharp.I want to do that so I could use just one basket for training and cutting. But it wouldn't be that easy. |
