Was out taking some new pictures today, and I figured I have enough swords now to warrant a collection post

All of these swords were selected with a ton of great information and feedback from the members here, so thanks to everyone who has assisted in helping me grow my addiction. In addition, only my first one was bought new from KoA... all the rest were from members here, which is why I was able to afford 6 swords in about 6 months... so thanks guys!

Anyway, on with the collection... some of these pics you've seen before, but I thought I'd put them all in one place.

My first real sword, Windlass Munich Cut & Thrust/Town Guard

Newest addition Oct 2012, a custom DSA 14th Century Medieval aka Dagesse with scabbard by Crusader Monk

The inscription on the pommel reads "Tu quantum et miserescere et inimicis tuis viventes", which roughly translates to "You respect and show compassion for your enemies and all living things." Note that the Latin does not match up with what is stated on DSA or KoA's descriptions, but the translation still does... which is odd but whatever.

Oak display stand hand-made by my father.

Yeah I'm really proud of those two, I know they're pretty hard to come by, which is why I grabbed 'em as soon as I saw 'em. I never imagined I'd get my hands on a schiavona unless I wanted to spring for the Del Tin, and the Ibelin is just cool, love the movie (director's cut of course).

The balance is pretty good, although the grip isn't the most comfortable thing in the world to me... the wood and hardened leather-wrapped center piece look cool, but I like the feel of the more uniform leather-wrapped grips better. It does feel pretty good in a two-handed grip though, and flows pretty nicely. I haven't cut anything with it, and I probably won't, since I don't see any way to tighten it up if it starts to come loose. This one's mostly for showing off... I got the Roven for my functional longsword needs

Well considering it was my first time cutting, it did fairly well against light bottles... the balance was really nice in the swing, it was fun to play with. The blade seems a bit light for heavier targets though, and the thicker bottles I had it didn't do so hot against, while the EMSHS had a better time due to more blade presence. Also, the Munich came slightly loose during the session, I still need to get a strap wrench to try to tighten it down again, but I guess that's normal for screw pommels.

Thrusts against the targets that annoyed me by not cutting were very nice though... stabbed right through anything

Finally got a chance to break out my new armor and try everything on... it's heavy as hell, but it sure looks cool

Warlock - I really like your collection. Great stuff, I like every sword you own there and I don't usually go for the stuff past the "middle ages".

mrstabby: Been thinking the same - but the person that set up the page might not be there anymore and old code gets messy when not maintained. Might be a "repair subscriptions, destroy function X, repair X, destroy Y" situation by now - would mean a total overhaul. Nov 18, 2024 7:29:27 GMT
