There aren't many styles that will pull off the nitty-gritty look, but a Bowie is one of them. Be sure to post some more pictures when you get it.

i dont want to sound negative, and i do love a hand made rustic knife, but that looks a tad on the shoddy side to me :? i honestly mean no offence but that does look to me like a large gap between the pommel and the handle i love the style and like the shape, but for a custom smiths work i would expect at least the handle to snug up against the pommel, and you asked for a coffin hilt handle, that isn't,i wouldn't personally be happy with it, i really hope im wrong and further pictures prove me to be talking out my arse

Nah, the handles about right. The cross guard is coffin shaped, you can see it in the shadow. I was hoping the handle would curve off point a little more ( think pommel about 50° off) and I'm not sure about the gap, but otherwise it's as advertised. I'm going to ask about the pommel, given his methods as illustrated to me it could just be the pommel is half cocked.
We'll see. I trust the guy, he seems legit.

my fault,i read coffin hilt and instantly thought handle and not the guard , damn miller light  ,well as long as the handle doesn't have a big gap between it and the pommel you're good to go,like i said i do love a nice rustic build much more than a shiney cnc'd piece and bowie knive's carry the look off perfectly, one of my favourite bowies is the svord von tempsky so hand made is always good, forgot to add good call on the ball pommel,my favourite pommel style by far

I don't blame you, I get the two confused so often i may have posted coffin hilt instead of guard at one point or another. That's while sober, no less. I like rustic when it's backed up by quality, i really think this knife should deliver. Nothing against cryo'd cnc milled uber modern knives, just not what i wanted for my Bowie.
Sent him an email about the pommel. Worst case, it's a snug spot for my pinky, best case it just needs an adjustment. I debated whether or not to have a pommel, but I'm glad i opted for it. It certainly sets the knife off, and I'd bet a whack to the nose with it wouldn't be fun. I'm also hoping it balances out that hunky chunk o'steel.

you know the more i look at this knife the more it's starting to groove with me,i'd be seriously tempted to replace the handle with a slimmer wood and maybe even do a leather wrap for a truly hand forged look, kind of like brenno's nokellen grip scaled down to fit the knife,or even a cord wrap simmilar to burt lancasters bowie in the scalp hunters, just my personal taste but to me that would make this knife shine in all it's hand forged glory

Talon, I'd buy that bowie, too! I am an addict for sure. But I like a beefy handle, especially oval or rounded in shape, so I can grip it better when working. I have arthritic hands and I generally build up the grips on tools and such. I like that pommel.

It's made of ebonized purple heart, something I've all ways wanted. I'm not sure if I'll modify any thing yet, all though i might slim the handle just a bit. I have big old hands, so a chunky handle might be better.
As it turns out, the gap between the handle and pommel isn't really much of a gap. The pommel is mounted on a pedestal, which then flares out to meet the handle flush. That's a very unique way to go about it for sure, it's really grown on me. He's still making the sheath, but soon after it will be in my hands. Can you guys make sure I'm buried with this thing? I'd appreciate it.

I think the handle and pommel make it unique even beyond the fact that it is handmade by a particular person for a particular person. I like to support craftsmen....I am just too poor currently to help out as much as I would like. If you are not buried with it I hope it is an heirloom....I ask only that you make certain that its awesomeness is used only for good. It would be a sad and fell day should it fall into the hands of evil.

The Bart Moore bowie is a very nice choice. You can't argue with that clip, I don't care whether or not it was on the man at the Alamo.
Don't worry Pat, it'll be in good hands. Even if they just so happen to be my cold, dead hands. I've seen to many heirlooms on Ebay recently. You should definitely shoot him an e-mail when you can, the price is beyond agreeable.

I've all ways loved the cherokee rose, all most as much as I love the villager knives Himalayan Imports does. I finally got my CAK sharpened properly as well. The AK bowie never got me as much as the monk chunk, but it's still awesome. I'm going to hunt down a Bown cutter, Cherokee Rose, Village Knife and one of their swords before I'm through.
Thanks Sebastien. I really wanted that old school look, while maintaining a reformed blade shape and an acute point. Dan delivered, hands down.

I've recently decided I need some type of hawk or belt axe to make this an official old west Daisho. I'll also need a new hat, possibly a Duster to match said hat. Not exactly Ren Faire kit, but I'm willing to settle. Wait a second...add some pauldrons! Genius! It'll be an old west+older west collaboration.
In more relevant news, it should (in theory) be in the mail some time soon. I feel now like I did when I first posted, excited beyond any reasonable explanation.

Speak of the devil! It works perfectly. The pommel not only brings the POB back to the guard, but it serves as a superb counterweight in the back cut. It's nimble for such a large and terrifying Bowie. That's my 18" Chiruwa Ang Khola for reference...this thing is so beast. The finish, rough as requested, adds so much depth. I thought the handle looked chunky, but it's a great size for my XL hand. More to come
