I know, not much of a review but I did promise pictures..so here they are. When the ito I ordered comes in, I do plan on thinning the tsuka a bit, so I can hold on to the darn thing. It's too thick for me to hold and with the ito that is currently on it, I find it gets slippery when I get sweaty hands. It is fine in the ha/mune thickness, its the omote/ura thickness that is too thick. And it is just in the area where you put your first hand. The section where the rear hand goes is a wonderful size. Mmmm..look at the sori..I LOVE how this sword handles. Hamon was etched by the previous owner. If I had to find something to complain about that I can't easily fix on this sword, it would be the round thickness of the saya. Curse of having short fingers. The saya starts out very thick and round at the koiguchi but tapers as you get to the end. While I like the metal band, that adding on to the already thick section makes it uncomfortable to hold while doing noto. With it also being rounder compared to all of my other sayas, I have fears of it turning upside down in my belt easily. I would like to change it but then that would mean having to redo the staining and reshaping the metal band and thus messing up the lines of the whole sword. Again-this is a fast and agile sword. I now understand why everyone loves these. I can't wait to test it. I also like the length of the blade, it works well with me.

Very nice! I forgot to harangue you for pictures the other day, so I'm glad you posted some. He really did a good job all around on that pup. Congratulation, and I can't wait to see how good it's going to look with the new shaping/wrap.

That's a great looking little sword. I know what you mean about the roundness of the saya and the tsuka near the fuchi. I bought a set of Kris Cutlery fuchi/kashira and noticed how unusually round and thick the fuchi is. You might want to go to work on the tsuka core with a wood chisel.
Good luck on the customization. I'll be curious to see what color ito you'll choose.
