Hi all, I'm new to this forum and to sword collecting. I own two rubbish display swords and a training katana (blunt), and recently decided to upgrade and get a full 'battle ready' sword. After hours trawling though websites and reviews (SBG was definitely the best source of info!) I decided upon the Valiant Armoury Signature Crusader. So I've ordered the sword for around $500 AU to be shipped via a parcel forwarding company. It's been around 6-7 weeks since I made the order and the status has been 'processing' the whole time (on VA's website). I've sent 3 or 4 emails to them asking for an estimate for how long an order generally takes to complete, with no replies... So now I'm starting to worry that I've been scammed out of $500 :? but from all my research and reading reviews here VA seems legit, and maybe they are just severely backlogged or never check their emails?... So I was wondering if anyone on the forum is from VA or has dealt with them much etc. who can give me any advice/reassurance. How long does it take to forge a sword ready to be shipped? I don't mind waiting for a sword as long as I know it's coming eventually. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give

Don't worry about Sonny. He gets completely overwhelmed with work when he get a delivery of blades. It's gotten worse as he offers to customize everything he touches and he lavishes time and energy on each piece that passes thru his hands. He does better answering his cell phone messages. I've bought five from him over the last several years.

I've talked to him before about the status of my orders on his website and even though he's tried to fix it many times, sometimes with out of country (outside of usa) shipping the status info isn't updated correctly.
that said it might be simply that he has not made it to your order. I had to wait a couple of months for my last sword from VA.

As the others have said... have no worries on being scammed. Valiant Armory does get backlogged from time to time... but Sonny who owns it always comes threw for ya in the end... you won't be ripped off brother.

I think he's a one man show, and he has to deal with customizations and shipping to all the vendors. It may be delayed, and the best bet is to try to call him. I had a custom order that he messed up on and was going to redo it, but never told me, so I had to call him so he could start on it again.

He's a really great guy, and the swords are worth the wait - he will come through for you.

I'll mirror others when I say Sonny is a great guy, he will not scam you. He's probably busy as hell right now, so call him on the phone. He will come through for you.

I don't doubt that Sonny is busy, but I made an order on March 8, 2012 and it is almost 4 months later now and I have e-mailed several times. I took Odingaard's suggestion and called and left a message, but have yet to have any contact back from him regarding the status of my sword. It's a little disconcerting, considering others seem to have gotten theirs a bit quicker.

Wow what did you order hongkongtaipan? That's way to long to wait. He seems to be really busy right now but I do know he picks up the phone 70% of the time Monday-Friday during normal business hours, which is pretty good for a one man show.

I've found that some times you kind of have to ride Sonny to get communication from him. He does always come through in the end but he doesn't like to have to communicate bad news sometimes. I had a custom order I did with him and was having a hard time getting in touch with him through e-mails and pms. However If I called he generally answered or called back. With mine, he had gotten the customizations I wanted and another customers mixed up and had to redo them and didn't want to have to say what happened because it meant it would be a little longer. It wasn't an issue for me, I 'm fine as long as people let me know what's going on. But some people hate to be the bearer of bad news and sometimes Sonny falls in this category. He is a great guy though and does always come through in the end so I wouldn't worry about that.

From what I know, if you place an internet order, they can't charge your credit card until they ship the item out. They can only put a pending charge on it. So if they haven't shipped out your sword yet, you shouldn't have been charged for it.

never heard that before. Closest I've heard is if you didn't get what you paid for you can the money charged back to your CC.
Sonny will get you your sword and it will be awesome. Don't forget taht he changed his finishing method on all fittings and that slowed him down by about a month on all orders- something he did let everyone know.

I had to wait a month and a half for my Malayesta. But he didn't have it in stock when I ordered. It will also depend on your customization as well. But the only person that will really know is Sonny.

I'm having him peen it since I never plan on changing anything to it. I ordered it in the standard color but I'd love to see it in rust. When I pick up the Norwich falchion I think I'm gonna get it in rust.
