do you have any info on it? Where did you get it?
There will be someone along soon who can help- this isn't something I know about except to say the rust looks pretty new and still active, and the square nut on it looks kinda new as well.

It looks fraternal to me. I agree with Chris...it is definitely new rust. Fraternal swords like this were given to masons, kights of Columbus, etc. Most of these I see are from the early 20th century. This on might be Grand Army of the Republic, which might put it a little earlier. Where did you get it?

Hello, many thanks for the helpful information. I I bought it here in Germany. Unfortunately I have no further information. I thought it came from a medical. Many thanks, Stefan.

Hi:
The Snake and Caduseus on the guard is definitely Medical Officer.
The blade appears to have a Couleux-Freres makers mark on it. ( hard to read )
I'd be more comfortable if I could look at Vol 3 of Michel Petards French Military Swords, but I only have 1&2 (Sabers)
But I think this is a French Model 1872 Med Officers Sidearm.

Absolutely no idea as to the origion of your sword..but from pics 3, and 5, it looks like you have the scabbard throat rusted to the blade ?
