Hello folks! I'm planning to have a Khukri made by the folks at Nepal Khukuri House and was wondering if anyone here had any experience with them, good or bad?

I had not heard of these guys, at least that I can remember. However they look pretty legit and have some amazing stuff. I love the extreme fullered Kukri I have to say they have some amazing blades, but you can see also they did great sheath work and details to the entire product like "The blade comes two pockets on the back of the scabbard which hold a blunt steel called "chakmak" for sharpening the blade or for striking spark from flint and a little knife known as "karda" used for skinning, cutting paper and opening later." Really I think this is a pretty good place to find kukri done right. I will be bookmarking the website for future shopping

Oooh I though nobody would ever reply! Yeah, I thought they were super cool too! I actually found them through e-bay. At first I was suspicious , a google search found me about 8 different webpages claiming to be nepalese kukri smiths, all selling the same products and with the same pictures, but separate watermarks. This particular site though, is connected to their e-bay page which has good feedback, so they evidently do make good business. And the price! I've e-mailed them about custom work and sent my design, so I'm just waiting on a response! Here's the blade that fist caught my attention: www.ebay.com/itm/221035669738?ss ... 1438.l2649

I don't own any products from this seller, but I read about them on bladeforums.com. Overall, their products aren't bad. They are tough and do the job, for the price you pay. A few people complained about cheap fittings and/or poor edge retention. Another complaint is the shipping ; very pricey. Overall, most people on BF that like kukris prefer spending a bit more and buying from Himalayan Imports. They offer the same blade types as Khukuri House, but the quality is much superior, so you end up getting a much sturdier blade for your money. I have one kukri from HI and it kicks ass. I reviewed it on the old forum ; sbgswordforum.proboards.com/inde ... e=1#281553 Edit : Oh wait ... What I read was about this website ; www.thekhukurihouse.com/Content/AboutUs.php , who happens to have almost the same name ... I'm all mixed up now. Maybe Khukuri House and Nepal Khukuri house are two fronts for the same factory ...

I wasn't sure how to regard this specific website, as it looks to me like one of many clones of the same "brand" so to speak. I've seen no less than three places that offer very, very similar product at about the same pricepoint, all in Nepal. Not that being in Nepal is a bad thing, it's the home of the kukri after all, but shipping out a kuk tends to run over $30. The same is true of HI, granted, but I do hear good things about them.
For my own part, I have three kukris, presumably from one of these places, likely thekhukurihouse specifically, and all three are good knives. I almost sprung for the HI Ang Khola that was in the Classifieds recently, but somebody else snatched it while I was still debating. Would have been nice to have a comparison between the brands...guess it'll have to wait.
Anyway, wherever you buy a kukri, as long as it's it's real kukri, you'll get your money's worth.
