Hey SBG community, i hope all is well for you guys. Anyways I have come across this piece that I think is absolutely perfect for me, however I am not entirely sure if I trust the retailer, if anyone knows a different place to find this saber or has proof that the site is trustworthy I would be grateful beyond grateful there is the ink www.aceros-de-hispania.com/battl ... ler-jk0205

It certainly is a nice looking blade in profile, I'll say that much.

This forge sells to a large number of european retailers, i'm sure that someone here have some experience with their stuff. Forum member Sblaza ( i may have spelled it wrong ) might know.

Looks good, but it's not a kriegmesser but rather a two handed saber. Swiss or south German style. And it has a 3mm edge which is fine if you don't mean to sharpen it, but sharpening it would be really difficult with that much material in the edge.

Is Aceros a forge, or are they merely a reseller of different products?
It seems that many of those products are available from different sites located within the EU, who actually makes them?
Also, I think that Enkidu meant to say forum member 'Szabla'. he hasn't been active much lately from what I remember, but an email or PM may get a response.............
I've seen that Two Handed Saber before, and it looks like it could be promising assuming that you are set up to sharpen it, but the lack of detailed info as to its construction, what material it is made from, and heat treat, leaves me wondering. "Blade made from Carbon Steel" is as detailed as it gets, I dunno..............................

It looks like a Jiri Krondak sword.

You're right, good call on the identification. This page- Fabri Armorum Look at Number 7, it is the same Saber.

Curious. Wulflund sells what looks like a very similar model: www.wulflund.com/weapons/swords/ ... es/?page=1 It's somewhat different from the Fabri Armorum, though - red hilt and a slightly different guard and pommel. I often see this in Czech swords, and I always wonder if it's different smiths using the same template or different models from the same maker.

They are close enough I would say that they come from the same place. Either that, or there are two or more forges very close to each other sharing designs to up production for the model. All the incarnations on the different sites of that saber appear to have been made by the same forge, with minor differences in appearance due to the hand made nature.
This also serves to clear up the question of whether Aceros is a forge or a reseller, they appear to be a reseller of various products from around the EU.
Has anyone in the EU ever dealt with Jiri Krondak? I would be interested to know what material he uses for the blades, how he heat treats his blades, and what construction methods he uses. There is scant information on the interwebz available using the various search options.

From his site
I've read some reviews of his practice longswords, and they are favorable. The swords have heavy pommels and a close PoB.

Thanks for the info Njarf, I apparently neglected to scroll down the page far enough to find it for myself.........
I read on the Schola Forum that his edges are a bit soft and require a lot of touch up. Granted that is from steel on steel contact, but any one have any thoughts on how they might behave when sharpened for cutting purposes?
Maybe a purchase and some experimentation is in order? Darn shipping from the EU is pretty steep though to take a chance on a MAYBE.
