I have been looking forever for a fully functional Freemason or crusader type sword. I want it to be a single-handed sword, blade no longer than about 32 inches and thicker than a rapier but not as thick as most arming swords, very light and well-balanced but still able to be a good cut and thrust sword. Something like this Deepeeka one, I really like this style of hilt and cross guard. Its blade is made of carbon steel, but it says that it is not recommended for sword on sword combat. Does anyone know a sword that they could recommend for me?

From my understanding Masonic swords are used in their rituals, and not typically made to be functional but decorative. I am not a Freemason but that is what I had heard from people I know who are.

I only know of one functional Freemason sword and I fear it's somewhat over your prize comfort zone... forums.dfoggknives.com/index.php ... 6153&st=80 Btw, with "thick" you mean wide? Because regarding blade thickness and distal taper, rapiers usually are thicker than most arming swords and have very different blade geometry, etc.

Your best bet is to ask a Freemason. I know something about the swords from several members of my family being masons but I don't recall what is secret and what isn't. I'd ask one of them. Worst thing that happens is they can't tell you or don't know.

Well, it doesn't really need to be a "freemason sword", I was just looking for a sword of that style with maybe a wider (sorry not thicker) blade that could be used for cutting. Another example is this US Air Force sword. Yes, I know that this type of sword is usually only for display or ceremonial purposes, but I was just wondering if there were any functional swords that sort of resembled these. I know that this is kinda confusing but thank you for trying to help!

The hanwei King of Kinnaras sword has very similar dimensions - of course, it is not a Freemason sword in anyway. It is actually a very nice and well made sword. www.kultofathena.com/product.asp ... aras+Sword

Some of these are in the 500 dollar range. www.swordsfromspain.com/Templar_ ... s_s/79.htm I think if they're going to use good materials to create the blade and make it solid, they want to use good materials to furnish it. Good materials on these types of swords is obviously a bit more expensive. Whereas more simple double edged Euro blades can be found with less extravigant furniture, and a well made blade, for a more economical price.

So you want a Court Sword or Side Sword. Quite a few examples of them around. Search under those terms and I think you will find what you are looking for. There are also several vendors out there who can make a high quality custom for you. But I don't know if you'll find custom work on it in your price range.
Isn't there an Atrim Court Sword? Or an Albion?
