I need some help...Big help.
I returned home from Russia about a month ago to find that some of my friends had decided to "play" with my swords while I was gone because "they're not the real thing"...After explaining they were "the real thing" and how much they cost...I was met with a blast of honest and a profuse apology...However, that doesn't really cut it.
Aside from my other swords being swung around and generally mistreated by a bunch of idiots, my Hanwei Tiger Elite has some serious issues.
My "friends" decided to swing the sword around and actually hit the very tip against the pavement, chipping about 1mm off the very tip of the sword...
The second issue that occurred, while I was gone, is that from him trying to hide the first issue, he actually caused parts of the sword to "rust" and there is a discoloring on the mune.
I'd like to know what I'm looking at "repair" wise to have the sword re-sharpened and to have the rust removed...Restoring the sword to it's original condition.
I've really been debating what to do over the past month...I haven't killed him yet but, I'm just really...Heartbroken this happened in my home so, now that I'm getting over it, it's time to get it fixed, at least.
Thanks guys.

A couple years ago I bought a new Momo No Saru (Peach Monkey) Katana. Was swinging it around my sword room and hit the tip on the ceiling. Broke the very end of the tip off. I used a whetstone and took my time with it. Was able to reshape the tip and it now looks like it never happened.
Rust will be a pain but maybe you can get it out with Mothers Mag.
Not sure what someone else would charge to have it professionally done.

I had similar problem but mine arrived in the mail with a rolled tip. I used very light files then sandpaper. Brought it back to new

A broken tip is a pretty common issue with katana since the tip is so darn pointy and hence rather fragile compared to say... a typical Euro sword. With some work you should be able to bring your tiger back to good shape. Some metal polish like Mother's or Metal Glo will take care of the rust.
