Hey everyone, I have just been a bit confused on the above subject. I do understand that the nihonoto is made in japan instead of china and most are laminated, folded, and differentially hardened. Why dont any companies like Dynasty Forge, Cheness, or Musashi do this with their chinese made products? Imangine a sub $500 sword with all of those features and a great polish!

Well, they do. You can find folded, laminated and DH katanas from many Chinese based forges/vendors. The Muntoshi Kumo is an example of a Chinese made sword with all those options. Huawei also has swords with those options for under $400. Dynasty forge has their Tri-Steel katanas that are as well, though they go for quite a bit over $500. Musashi has a few models that are too, but it's much more difficult to find them.

yep what adrian said, they are out there, though most are not under $500. With all those features, it tends to raise the price, especially if you add in a really good polish. A really good polish runs $200-$300 alone, so to get laminated, folded, and differentially hardened along with a good polish your looking at $1,000 range not sub $500 range.
