Hello all.
Having just got my first real sword - a awesome birthday present from my fiancée, I am working on a review.
Can someone tell me how to measure a swords point of balance?
I guess I could try and balance it on my finger - but that seems likely to end up with me minus several toes...
Advice appreciated!
Regards,
Tom

If it's a Euro sword, you could hold the grip in one hand and slap the pommel with the other causing the blade to flex; the spot where it stays rather stationary (usually about 2/3s the way down) is about the center of percussion. If it's anything else (including a Euro), you can use TomK's "drop test", where you hold the sword loosely and lightly drop the blade onto a block of wood; it'll start to bite into the wood when you get to the COP (and start to vibrate some when you get past the COP).
