Has anyone had any experience with the Cold Steel Scottish Broadsword, how does it fair up as an interpretation of the weapon type or how does it compare to others in its price range i.e: CAS Hanwei Scottish Broadsword or Backsword ? Any opinions appreciated

I can't remember what exactly, but I remeber reading on myarmoury what is unhistorical and wrong about CS broadsword. I think people have better opinion of Hanwei broadsword and backsword... I realize this is not very helpful but without some research of old myarmoury topics it's all I can say. About Hanwei scottish swords there are enough good stuff said that I don't fear to recommend it.

The consensus seems to be that the Cold Steel Baskethilt is too heavy and handles poorly. The Hanwei swords are better reviewed with the backsword seeming to be the better of the two.

The Hanwei backsword is the better of the three. I personally like the looks of the antiqued one. Plus you don't have to worry about rust on the basket as much with it.

Although I have not handled the CS Basket i have owned the Hanwei broadsword (see review below) viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6974Even that sword is a heavy beast. If you are looking for a nice Basket type sword, the Hanwei Cromwell is the best of them all, handles really well and cuts like a lazer beam.

I own the Cromwell and I agree with Silver_Fan. But the Cromwell is a mortuaryhilt backsword. Mortuaryhilts are half baskets, so if you don't mind that? You can also look at the Cromwell too.
I handled both of Hanwei's backswords and I like the Cromwell better than the Baskethilt backsword. So that is the one I got. But there are others who like the Baskethilt better than the Cromwell.
