Stumbled on this site while having a lark and laughing at ebay at searching 'antique sword'. www.faganarms.com/Cossack/caucas ... 9-627.aspx It's in rough shape, but the price isn't bad for the shape it's in. And some of the other items that vendor has are just.. Wow... Nowhere near enough money though.

Not a bad find, but I'm not sure it's actually a shashqua. Strictly speaking, the shape of the hilt makes it look more like a Bedouin sword, such as this. But, that's just me.

Possible. However this website, as I vetted, is pretty well known it seems, so i'm sure their experts know better than you or I, as we are 'armchair generals' so to speak.

Very true. The only reason the thought even crossed my mind is the similarities of the hilt.
