I thought I'd introduce myself here I came across the forum a while ago and have found the topics very useful! My name is Tiff, I'm a graphic designer / illustrator from the UK with a passion for swords. I've been fascinated by swords and the medieval era from a young age and took up épée fencing at 17. Unfortunately I have come down with M.E./CFS for a year and a bit, but now I am starting to regain my health and energy I'm slowly building up training again I own a fencing épée, a wooden bokken, one wall hanger and a recently acquired CAS Hanwei Tinker Pearce Early Medieval Single Handed Sword which I am over the moon about

Welcome to SBG! Glad to hear that you are getting your health back. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to not be able to swing a sword. And might I say that I'm right there with you in my opinion of the EMSHS.

Hello Tiffany, welcome to the SBG forum !
I hope you will enjoy your stay here. Feel free to ask questions and hang around. There's a lot of great people in this forum.
I have one question though, pardon me if it comes across as rude ; what's M.E./CFS ?

Welcome aboard!
Not sure about the M.E., but I believe that CFS is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I'm glad you have got your health back. Enjoy your stay, and have fun!

No worries, a lot of people are unfamiliar with it. The un-abbreviated is Myalgic Encephalomyelitis , also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (not sure if it may be called something different in the US or not). It is an invisible disability which mostly affects energy levels, dizziness/balance and fatigue. Other symptoms vary from person to person and can include muscular pain, sensitivity to light/noise, unrefreshing sleep, prone to fainting etc. Quite a challenging thing to have seeing as it's not something you can take medication for - but I'm glad to be making some progress now. My ideal goal would to be back at my fencing club by the end of the year Thanks all for the warm welcome!

Welcome to the Forum, Tiff! Glad to hear you're getting some needed energy and vigor back into your life! For the forumites who care to know more about CFS and ME (myalgic encephalomyelitis). You're pretty much a tired zombie at your best and bedridden at worst. www.prohealth.com/me-cfs/me-chro ... atigue.cfm SteveO - Commercial Printing and Graphics for my working career. Welcome ! Stick around and ask questions, in no time you'll become a sword nut with a serious addiction like us ! I took a look at your website, you got some nice stuff there. I used to be a graphic designer too ; swords are like art : just another way to put our dreams into something concrete

Welcome to the forums! Beware, this place can create a compulsion to spend money on sharp metal objects... I've acquired 4 already since I've joined I'm also a photographer in my spare time, although my IT day job pays for the sharp & pointies Heavily armed creative people are fun!

Welcome to the forum, based by the replies in short time I concluded there was a female sword lover joining in... just kidding (I just don't use smileys).
But as you probably already know this is a hobby mostly crowded by men.
I gotta add I love the expression over the moon, guess mainly British people use that. But I agree that is good expression to describe feelings when getting a new sword that you love.

Welcome Tiffany, Engineering drawing/drafting might be somewhat similar to your line of work, but I think commercial art would be more accurate in your case? Engineering is a strong interest of mine, though. My Dad was an Aeronautical Engineer, as the term was used decades ago.
I'm trying not to go overboard on buying items that interest me. It's an interesting hobby, as you'll see if you're around long.
