Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forum. A theatrical fight choreographer and collector of mostly stage combat swords. I'm interested in selling some custom made sword grips. I'd be happy to hear any advice from anyone. Thanks Joel Liz This grip is wire wrapped on a core of Maple. The sequence of wire is as follows: three gently twisting strands of GOLD TIGER TAIL/ NYLON COATED WIRE (0.38mm) followed by a two strands of SILVER PLATED CRAFT/ JEWELLERY WIRE 0.4mm (26 gauge) right twisted, followed by two single strands then to more strands left twisted to book match the other twisted strands and all set with epoxy glue and butt capped with a band of solid copper. At the top of the grip the wire strands are countersunk into the Maple core and locked with epoxy. The Maple core is first sliced in half and the cavity for the tangy cut on a table saw in the two halves are glued back together and shaped with a block plane and then sanded. Total build time probably four hours. The detail the wire is best appreciated the magnifying glass. Daisy (the black one) This grip is on a Maple core with a braided nylon string wrapped spiraling down the length to form an Armature. The Armature is then coated in contact cement and covered in black leather. Two sets of right and left twisted SILVER PLATED CRAFT/ JEWELLERY WIRE 0.4mm (26 gauge) are laid in the grooves created by the braided nylon Armature and embedded in the Maple handle at the ends.
