Hi all! Yesterday, I purchased an M1913 US Cavalry Sabre from a gun show, so I spent most of the afternoon perusing the internet looking for info on it...I found a TON of good stuff that linked here, so I thought I'd join up and ask a few questions about it. Most of my experience comes from knives; I've got a couple knife builds under my belt and another in process. I do own a couple swords; an el-cheapo katana set from BudK or something, and a 48" broadsword from a different gun show.
Anyway, I look forward to learning a lot here! I'll probably spend some time reading around, and I'll try not to be too much of a n00b.

Welcome to forums. By all means, be a noob. There are only two ways to remove noobness, beat it out (which is extremely difficult through the internet) or educate it out. The only way to educate it out is if you're aware of it, so noobs must be noobs so they can learn their way out of being noobs.
Uh... that was a long winded way of saying don't be afraid to ask questions.

Well, I meant that I won't ask tons of dumb questions...like is my sword good for slicing bread, or if I can make a sword out of 4 toothpicks and a 16-penny nail.

Welcome aboard! Indeed, ask away. As for your two questions: 1. Yes, swords are great for cutting bread. 2. I'm not sure. Maybe this guy can help.
