I stumbled upon this website featuring a weapons collection that I shared here: forum.sword-buyers-guide.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10702Many fine pieces to be seen, but one is very particular: Here's an approximate translation from Google translator: "Degen, 2nd quarter 17th century French, officer, cavalry. Iron vessel, a large ball knob, Vernietknauf, the decor consists of a plastic knob cut snake that winds through the entire handle area. The handle ends in the guard, the guard on both sides symmetrically designed Parierbügel, which together form a heart shape, thumb guard. The terz-and quart-facing side of round bar iron in the Parierbügeln, in the spaces at the side bars with circular buckles serve as a cut snake head ends of additional hand protection. Handle with iron wire, braided sog.Türkenbünde statements. Double-edged blade, something rostfleckig, possibly supplemented (length 94 cm, width 3.6 cm), full root in the neck area means hollow ground, then hexagonal. Overall length: 110 cm Weight: 1060 g" The basket is very rare on that one...if not unique? And is it authentic? I don't know but I am wary of its authenticity for some reason...but still, its a very cool basket. What do you all think?

That's an impressive blade and an impressive basket. It does look authentic, but my knowledge is very limited and I'm only checking two pics ... Still, that sword is quite a sight.

This appears to be an Officer of the Gendarmerie Royale's sword 1730-1780 period. Elite element of the Maison Du Roi. (House Guards of the King) The dragon fineals are a personalize touch on the weapon. $5000.00 dollar sword at least.
Love the hex/hollow ground big epees of this period. No reps for these anywhere.

Thank you very much for the info! The dragons!! Maybe the sword of a descendant of Sigurd or of Turin! That is one sword to add to the list of swords I would like a reproduction of.
