Hello all,
I'm trying to recall something that I saw/heard about some time ago and I cannot place it. I remember a while back seeing a very large shield that was being wielded with both hands. It was over 6 ft long, with an oval-shaped center section and a triangular section at either end. The triangle corners were more curved for parrying, and the tips of either end were sharpened. It looked like something out of a fantasy movie, but it was apparently in someone's fight book. If anyone can tell me just what this thing was and where information about it can be found, I'd appreciate it. I'd added my own crude drawing of this thing in case I'm as bad at description as I think. Thanks!

no worries,i've always considered a pavise as a shield for crossbow men,but apparantely thats what those duelling shields are called,i think their german in origin, i prefer a longsword personally

MIke Loades did a piece on the Talhoffer Judicial dueling shield in his Weapons that Made Britain: the Shield Episode.
