So, I have succumbed to the malady of sword collecting... and now I am craving a historically accurate (or very close) La Tene period Celtic sword. I would REALLY like to find one with a period accurate metal scabbard as well, but it appears this combo is only done on custom blades. So, in the odd hope that someone here who has much more experience in this metal addiction might enlighten me, is there such a beast? I really like the look of this Del Tin, the hilt is spot on for what I am after, but alas, no scabbard and I would prefer a cutter.. www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=DT204A&name=Del+Tin+4th+Century+BC+Celtic+SwordWith my recent tax return burning a hole in my pocket, I am hoping someone might point me in a direction not yet traveled in my search through the interweb..

The only one that I know of under the $1000 mark with an included metal scabbard is the Deepeeka, and it's... well... a Deepeeka. I wondered if one could buy both and use the Deepeeka scabbard on the Del Tin but it appears that they're completely different as far as size goes. If you really like the Del Tin then it's a decent option. The hilt doesn't strike me as particularly historically accurate but I'll leave that judgement to someone else as I haven't researched this type of sword very thoroughly. Del Tins, from what I've heard, make decent cutters when properly sharpened but that's something you'll have to do yourself if you don't want the secondary bevel from KOA. These aren't replicated very often so if you want better then that then like you said you'll most likely have to go custom. There's a review on MyArmoury that you might be interested in if that's an option.

Thats bang on for what I had in mind. I looked at the site for TEMPL, beautiful work, but 1500 Euro. Ouch. I suppose I can save my way up to it. Was hoping to get lucky and find something under a mortgage payment.
