Do any of you know of any Revolutionary War replicas other than the Windlass American Revolutionary War saber and the Hanwei Revolutionary War hanger that are available on Kult of Athena? I am particularly interested in replicas of George Washington's War Sword and a lion headed or eagle headed cuttoe.
Thanks for the assistance.

Far as I know the majority of replicas from this era are custom made; the two you listed are the main production ones I know of.
David Ledoyen of... By the Sword, I think? does make some French Colonial replicas which you could look into; he also may have some British or American pieces, I can't say for sure as it's been a long time since I looked at his website.
BKS also has experience making sabers and cuttoes, and they'd be worth looking into, I think.
Good luck... sorry I couldn't be of more help!

www.gggodwin.com/default.aspIf you haven't been to the Mt Misery Sutler, that is a good point of departure for period arms. Ask them about their source for these items as some are Windlass.

Well, people, I have started to collect Revolutionary War sword replicas. My first purchase was Hanwei's Revoultionary War hanger. It is inexpensive (under $150), but seems to be well made. It is light and well balanced and most resembles sword no. 15 s. in Neumans "Swords and Blades of the American Revolution". The back of the blade is not cut into a saw, however. I have just placed an order with G. Gedney Godwin for one of his hunting swords with white bronze hardware and a black horn grip. Godwin's swords are made in India, supposedly by a "high end" manufacturer. The only review of any GGG sword I have been able to find is a review of his small sword with colichemarde blade. This was on the My Armoury website. They spoke very highly of it. It was about the best review I've seen them give to an under $300 sword. When I get the hunting sword, I'll try to do a review.

Thanks for the update, Frank. Look forward to seeing your thoughts on the hunting hanger. Gedney's has teased me for a long time. 18th Century arms just haven't had the pull on me. Also have Neumann. Amazed by the diversity of arms available in the period. Book shook several preconceptions I had of period style.
