*I* do not find the Dane grip to be better in any way then one with a flattened oval cross section... YMMV.

I agreee with Sean, it is no better than a flattened oval grip, just different. The edges of the Faceting form might be considered too angular for some people to get a comfy feel, my hands are pretty calloused so I never found it to be uncomfortable.

Guess I have sissy hands... Its just a totally different feel then anything else I've ever used. I found it very uncomfortable... but edge alignment was not a problem at all. So it does not make it hard to use the sword... just unfamiliar and uncomfortable. I suspect if I liked the look, I might make allowances for the feel... but since I don't.

Nice review Sean. Thanks for the peek. It's a handsome design. Guess it's what drew me to the DSA wannabe. But I also preferred the DSA because it's a manageable XVIIIa instead of the huge E. Congratulations Dave. Time to build another Cabinet...

Got a spot already set aside Dave. If you are interested in a similar sword to this one there is one for sale on another forum, all I will say is they don't like blue and look at classifieds... or maybe I should get another one

I saw the other one for sale and thought 'Maybe Dave needs a third Dane?'

If I ever get another it will be heading to Christian for sure, I'd keep the pommel but get a grip and guard like this one, but the color would be blue. Attachments:

I clicked on that to enlarge and just peed myself a little.......................
If that thing ships to AUS, it better damn well go by fighter jet, or SR-71, or something equivalently bad ass. The Emperor of Ozland ought to hold a ceremony for you to unwrap it, and you should be legally able to stand atop Ayers rock and proclaim your awesomeness every Thursday.
Unbelievably overwhelming in its impressiveness begins to describe it.

Heh... What Chuck said. Easily one of the best looking swords I have seen in a long time.

My Dane arrived today via a sword trade on SFI.
It is a very well made sword. It is a long sword but I find it easy to handle. Grip is different looking but does not seem difficult for me or uncomfortable but would like a more rounded grip. I am 6'4" and around 240 lbs - so I can handle the more oversize swords fairly well.
Did I say it was badass?

Its for certain a well made sword... and it cuts surprisingly well for such a large weapon, let alone one not designed for cutting, but for thrusting. I just HATE that grip so much.
