Hey guys, I've been considering this sword for my next purchase for a while now. They make some sick 5160 spring steel swords, acid etched to look epically utilized and aged. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a review of any of their swords? This is the closest I've come. Just some weapons test videos of some of their other swords. I'm really more interested in their D'captain sword for the hand gaurd, and the over all asthetics. Let me know if you guys have a line on a review of this tool.

My D'capitan is on its way should be here in the next couple of weeks, Ill let you know how I like it. I have a Deuce right now and of all the edged weapons I have this is the one I'd want with me if the SHTF. It's incredible, it's not really a sword per se, but Im not planning on a lot of sword fights in my future. Take a look at their "Destroying the Deuce" video...I think it could cut thru anything

The D'capitan looks cool. If I got a Zombietool, it would be this one.

Hey, Just wanted to post quick initial impressions on my newly arrived "D'Capitan". I unwrapped it a few minutes ago and noticed that the packaging was really tight and secure cocooning my precious blade within. The first thing I saw is that the kydex sheath was improved by cutting straight edges, getting rid of the scalloped edges on my "Deuce" that I always saw as "frilly". The blade was sealed in a very professionally looking tape seal that totally protected the blades acid etch during shipping. It was easily removed and I finally had my D"Cap in hand. I could feel the pure "menace" in the blade. Where the Deuce is all about strength and brute force. The D'Cap is all about elegance and power, the thickness of the blade is apparent as soon as you feel it. However, the blade tapers to a wicked cutting point, that moves very quickly thru the air. The grip feels perfect in my hands and the hand guard gives a sense of protection that you'll need in the coming Zompokolyps.
By comparing the Deuce and the D'Cap you can see the commitment the boyz have to innovation and improvement and feel the evolution of their art. I'm grateful that I have the means to own such a blade.
(Wow I just read back this post to myself and it really sounds like a load of asskissing bullsemprini, but it's really the way I feel!)

Did
Did you get it with the splatter etching or the hammered etching?

I was partial to the splatter on this piece, I didn't want to ruin the angular lines.
But, I would have done the "Hammer" on the Deuce if it was available at the time I bought one.

Thanks for the heads up guys. I am really seriously considering a zombie tools sword for my future purchase. I have some 5160 spring steel swords off of traditionalfilipinoweapons.com.
I would seriously recommend this site if you are interested in affordable, but insanely high quality 5160 spring steel swords. I personally own the butterfly swords, Dan Dao, Jian, and Itak tagalog (2) from their online list. They have stood up fairly well so far against my Mat cuts.
I think the D'capitan would be an interesting comparison against the Dan Dao as far as the idea of mass vs. elegance for cuts.

I like the hammer finish better, but I was wondering, would the rough finish rust faster and cause more friction/make a cut harder compared to the smooth "splatter" finish? I plan to get "the tooth" next year, take it to college with me, but I don't know which finish would be better.

I would rather it was just clean and shiney. That slick surface area would cut way better. I like the way that the acid etched edges look, but the inconsistency definately will catch. If you watch the demo cuts though, it doesn't seem to cause them any issues. I think if you are looking to try and get double cuts, though I don't see it happening with The Tooth, you would want to worry about friction. Likely with the tooth, it wouldn't really be a serious consideration.

Yeah I would say the acid etch would be easier maintence, the hammer would get rust pit zones. For the more D Captain or Apokatana I would have splatter hands down, the urban machetes or deuce the hammered. This is the quality that only loving hands on achieves.
