Dear All,
Hi First post.
I bought a Paul Chen Orchid, it had a couple of small scratches on the Hamon which I cleverly repolished with metal polish (ha, ha) and it faded the Hamon.
So totally peed off with myself I bought some laquered hazua and ground it down to 175 microns, I then followed the Hamon using sodium Bicarbonate and hazua stone paste until it was nice an white and nearly matched the original. Whilst the Hamon and the original matched in colour that fine line above the Hamon was clouded, so I made up some Nugui and some natural crushed rust and Jetiko Nugui and experimented polishing the interface line which I would call a heat affected zone, it lies between the martensite and the pearlite.
My hamon matches the Hanwei at a glance, but under really close inspection I can see that Hanwei shows up a slightly different structure and phases in the steel than mine, my polishes shows up more detail just under the Hamon and theirs shows up white lines and layers above tha hamon.
Does anyone know what Nugui they might be using?
If interested I can post pics?
