I recently bought a new cold steel jade lion sword. When it arrived I noticed the tip looked a little wierd. Since this is my first sword purchase I was wondering if this type of thing is acceptable or not.

Welcome to SBG.
With those kinds of tips, be it a Chinese, Euro or any other double-edge design, you sometimes see an irregular grind like that.

As Jordan stated, the grind may not always be perfect because the machine may be slightly misaligned; and I do mean ever so slightly. If it really bugs you, you can either attempt to grind off a bit of metal so the tip is exactly in the middle, or contact Cold Steel about it. I'm not sure what the policies about such things are at CS, but send em an email with that pic, and hope for the best.

The grind marks on the tip are really ugly, but I wouldn't consider it a defect worth bothering the manufacturer. They look decently shallow enough that they would polish out fairly easily, and I don't see them affecting the structural integrity of the tip.

yeah it doesn't look like it would be hard to sort out,and with production blades you'll often see small issues like this,if thats the only thing wrong i would contact cold steel and inform them of it,but i wouldn't send it back

I contacted cold steel and they informed me that I could send the sword in so that someone could evaluate it. But if this is indeed par for the course with this type of sword, how should I proceed from here if I would like the tip to be better finished?
