Tempted to get this one. Problem is one review complains of whippy ness and others say it's pretty stiff. Is it a gamble on which you get?

It's a steal at that price....I would jump on it...also they do have a return policy. And don't forget to use the SBG promo code.

It was done in 2008 and I didn't know as much as I do now, plus I was going off the other Windlass that I got years ago. In the mid 2000s Windlass got whippy compared to swords in the late 90s and early 2000s. This sword for how big and wide it is, as the flex that is right with it. SO my opinion as changed and it's not a whippy mess.

I gave in. Hopefully next weekend it won't be another good sword or else I'll catch hell when the credit card bill arrives.

I think Brenno and Cedarlore forge have set the bar high up enough for me not to pull the trigger on what I'm sure will be a nice Elven longsword this coming weekend. I hope.

I had looked at those in the past some place and past as being too expensive. Not the asking price as such, but when adding international shipping, customs, and all related fees really ups the price. At $45 plus the discount they were affordable to me and placed my first order with MRL.

Perhaps you could try the freight forwarder to ship to your country as they might have some solution toward those high shipping cost and other fees. It works for me.

The frieght is not cheap and not the only problem. I have two options concerning shipping:
To have the vendor ship internationally. In this case often a vendor will not ship to my country. If they will international shipping is often slow and expensive. Then after it arrives I am left to deal with customs directly which is located in another providence. This is an all day torture event. And I still have to pay the government’s fees.
Or use a more convenient method, which I do, and is probably what you are calling a freight forwarder. In this case I pay shipping to Miami, FL, to the forwarder who then sends it to my country where it temporally winds up in customs before being delivered to a pickup station in a nearby town. They do all of the paper work at both ends and deliver to the pickup station for a fee of course but the convenience of not dealing with the government and with the station 1-1½ hours away instead of an eight hour trip to customs is a blessing.
But that is only part of the story, the government is the other and regardless of shipping I still have to deal with them. There is a local sales tax as well as import sales tax. This is not based on the vendor’s price but any and all other expenses including shipping, and even on the sales tax if occurred in the US, so I am actually paying tax on taxes. There is also duty, and a custom’s service fee. And then frequently either the government or the transporter manages to come up with some “special” needed paper work or a required “stamp” that costs additional.
So the actual transport is only a part of the story. I can expect to pay 2-3 times the selling price, but sometimes it's less and sometimes more.

Sounds very much like the Philippines, to be honest, where I reside. And equally my problem. The shipping quote for the Roven was more expensive than the sword itself. :(

3/27 Raven Claw Fighting Knife $ 49.00 www.museumreplicas.com/p-564-raven-claw-fighting-knife.aspxI've had one of these for around 10 years and it's a favorite. This is a pure fantasy piece with a cast alloy handle so it may not be for everyone's taste but it does have quite a following, proven by the fact that it is probably the longest running Windlass blade in the MRL catalog. The last time this was a DOD was April 2014, so if you want one, Now is the time

A few years ago a forum member had a matching sword made by Fable Blades, I believe.
