i feel like the dods been sorta weak recently, like the discount has been less, i remember it used to be 50% now it feels like its 30% off A few months ago they reduced the discount and they removed the ability to add a promo code to the DOD. While not as good a deal as they used to be, still a better deal than regular with the SBG discount or buying from KOA. It's just a matter of luck or timing that something you want comes up on the DOD. Just a reminder to those planning on buying something at regular or closeout prices, the SBGWEB promo code still takes off 10% on those purchases.

You can still add the SBG code to the DoTD. If the DoTD is above $200, the MRL free shipping coupon is automatically applied by them, so you have to cancel that first.

I have received their discount on DotD items all under $200. However, I understand that both the discount and the free shipping both cannot be had. I believe that you can cancel the free shipping and then give the promo code to receive the discount. This was discussed earlier somewhere, but I have no idea now where, on this forum.

Yeah I just checked and the SBGWEB coupon still applies to the dagger. It would have been a shame to have lost out on that extra 10%, but in the end it serves almost the same purpose as freeshipping, lowering the price to just about what the overall price would be without shipping.

It is an alright sword but you really didn't miss much.....lol Pretty hefty for a single-hander. I hear ya, as the weight has been mentioned as the main negative. But I heard it still moves pretty well for its size (like the late Chris Farley on Saturday Night Live ). Just not a large selection of cut & thrusts (particularly for southpaws like me), and it is kinda purdy.

MRL has some pretty janky weights, some are light as anything and some heavy as hell, i still do not believe that their new Ashdown viking sword is only 1 pound 12 ounces

These are (clearly) two very important aspects when analyzing swords that manufacturers and venders need to spell out better for the customer.

These are (clearly) two very important aspects when analyzing swords that manufacturers and venders need to spell out better for the customer. I've given up on most production swords delivering on how I want them to handle. I've started to view individual production swords as just a package of parts for custom jobs. The grips are a big one now, slippery sheepskin leather and plain wood go right out in favor of a custom grip. Though it would be nice if MRL and KOA listed the taper of the blade along the whole length instead of just the forte and foible. At least thickness measurements along the middle as well and maybe the blades overall rotation...but oh well.

"Blackbeard's Coat" was a hint! It's much fun to guess the sword coming.
