I wish it weren't so old or it'd be nice to pull some thread necromancy there regarding my one quibble--not one of inaccuracy but minor incompleteness. That is, I've been taken by the really wonderful coeexistence of all kinds of curved and straight blades among the Byzantines post-12th century, and while that's mentioned in passing I'd love to read a lot more on that.
