Greetings forum folk!
I thought since I'm new around these parts I'd introduce myself.
I'm Dustin from Kentucky. I've been a fan of arms and armor since I can remember. My first sword ever was an antique replica of an "Alphonso the Tenth" which has since had both of the designs on the cross guard broken. I still keep it, because it was a gift. Can't bear to part with it. Then came the 50 dollar pawn shop katana (the pot metal blades with the plastic handle, you know the type).
After many years (I'm 28 by the way)of searching, I finally found a martial arts club that taught sword arts, I've been in for about 4 years now, and while we don't use em too often (its more of a treat for us lower ranks), The first time I did tameshigiri it was electrifying. (this was last year!) After reading the SBG main site and MANY forum posts, I bought my own Cheness Iaito. I love it. I really enjoy learning more, and growing with it. My folks think it is odd I display it over the fireplace, but I don't have a Kentucky Long Rifle to hang there, so I figure it is the next best thing!
I'm also a gigantic tea nerd. Blacks, oolongs, chinese greens, Japanese greens, Aged Pu-erh, you name it I drink it. I collect all sorts of tea and teaware as well.
Looking forward to meeting all of you.

Welcome Dustin. It's not weird to display a sword over the fireplace. That's where my newest one's going.
Do you ever drink flowering teas?

JohnE,
I don't, though I have tried a few. They are pretty to look at, but you can get a lot better bang for your buck without the art. I do appreciate the art of it though. I'm mainly an oolong drinker. I brew things in the Chinese Gong Fu style in a little dish called a gaiwan. It is great for single cup brewing, or long sessions for yourself. Are you a tea drinker?

Yes and no. I like tea when it's there but don't usually bother brewing it for myself, if that makes sense. My wife loves flowering teas.
