I've handled a few antiques, and I really like the design. Simple, no-nonsense, durable, handy size... Everything I want. Originals are expensive, and certainly not something I'd risk using. Are there any decent reproductions on the market? The only ones I've found were from Denix and Depeeka (which, IIRC, are known for butter-soft steel). I thought Windlass made one at some point, but I haven't found anything so maybe I'm wrong. Also found one marked "Nashville Plow Works" on Ebay, but little information is given on it so I find that shady as hell. Anyone have any leads? What I'm talking about, just in case there's any confusion. www.relicman.com/weapons/imageweapon/W0923A.JPG

Ah, the good ol' cabbage-chopper...
Unfortunately we have a small problem with this: There were a LOT of them made in slightly different variations. Nashville Plow Works isn't unbelievable-- the CSA and Union both had artillery short-swords, although I can't say for sure that NPW made them.
Anyway, as far as I know, the Denix and Deepeeka are unfortunately the only versions out there. There may in fact be a Windlass version, but honestly I'm not aware of one. WeaponEdge or History Relics may make some, though.
I understand that antiques are kinda common even if they aren't cheap, so it may be worthwhile investing in one?

Look for the Weapon Edge sellers and you will see decent reproductions of the US 1832 as well as the French 1831 infantry (mislabeled as artillery) leafie and also the 1816 type blade that the US 1832 was modeled after. The other one shown from Weapon Edge with the bird head is actually a precursor of the French 1816 artillery. The confederate reproductions are still out there from some other sellers and I think Big Mick on Ebay has a cutlass hilt and one of the eagle jobs, stores.ebay.com/BIGMICK45-MILITA ... -TREASURES historyrelics.com/product.php?Ca ... 5a63bc3e9f

Historical accuracy in the hilt casting can be overlooked. Mostly, I like the overall design. Primary requirements would be a decent blade, and no one seems to advertise what kind of steel is used for the blade beyond "carbon steel"...
Hell, at this point it might be worth it just to have someone forge out a decent copy of the blade style, and I could hilt it myself as I see fit. I just don't know if I can trust any of the available repros...
