I finally was able to figure out the markings on my luger. It is a DWM 1920 commercial luger. It has an earlier serial number and shoots 7.65mm ammo. I took it to my local range and had their gunsmith inspect it and told him what I knew about it. He didnt believe that it shot 7.65 so he then searched everywhere for a marking that would indicate the type of ammo and their is none. Then he went and got a 9mm and held it up to the muzzle when he saw it didnt fit his eyes looked similar to this  . He cleared it to shoot but they didnt have the right ammo for it there. I dont think im going to shoot it anyways its in near perfect condition with all matching parts. Only thing that has changed is my grandpa changed wooden grips to plastic so they wouldnt get damaged by the oil he used for long term storage. I will put up some pictures hopefully by thursday when my work week ends.
I also took to the range my 1911 that I mentioned in my other topic about gun cleaning. It didnt go great but was a good learning experience. I had constant feed problems which was a mixture of the ammo and the feed ramp. It refused to feed 2 rounds in a row so after every shot I had to rerack the slide or just load one bullet at a time. I also had quite a few ejection problems for that I am blaming the cheap ammo and my wife's incredibly weak wrists and arms. After I got used to the trigger which was a lot longer of a pull then im used to I was able to make some pretty good groupings at 20 feet. The most embarrassing thing was my wife who was a first time shooter making significantly smaller groupings than me. Sadly I dont believe I will be ever shooting this gun again. Was made more for show than actual shooting with a gold plated hammer, safety, trigger, and slide lock. It also has an engraving and gold lettering on the slide so it will look pretty on my wall.
The guys next to me tried to help me out with my feed problems but were unsuccessful but they let me shoot their 2nd generation Glock 17 if I let them put a few rounds through my 1911. I fell in love with the gun and so did my wife which makes buying one easier  . We looked at a few that they had there but I definitely liked the 17 over the 19 and prefer the 9mm versions since it will be for target shooting and that stuff is cheap. Why didnt you guys tell me that shooting stuff is just as fun as cutting bottles and mats?
