Hello all! Guess I'm the last to find out but I contacted Windlass about their "United Kingdom" collection of swords, the 1897 Infantry Officers sword(Royal "Rifles" & "Light Infantry") in particular and have received an answer. The price is double my monthly purchasing budget. At least I found out that they will sell to the public......the public just can't afford them out of hand! I guess I'll have to accumulate the price for one over a period of time...I hate that...but its property tax time...AGAIN ALREADY! A view of them can be seen here: www.windlass.com/c-70-united-kingdom.aspx

What were they charging for it if you mind me asking? If they sell those to the public, the Irish sword doesn't look half bad and is quite a rarity....
EDIT: Also, are they actually carbon steel or just stainless SLOs?

Hi Somewhat! Actually I forgot to ask...very unusual for me but I was trying to make it short. I did notice at the bottom of the page there were many links one could click and find some info. Under the one labeled "creative process", there is a link called "manufacturing swords" and it states that most are made of 1065 thru 1095 carbon steel, but on another page...the one for the US Marine NCO Sword, it says stainless steel, so..o..o! I'll ask them! I don't know anyone who wants a stainless steel sword...especially a marine, what a waste of steel, I guess that's why so few of them are sold. $495 for the 1897 model plus $50 for shipping. Maybe if KOA can work something out with them(hinting) we might be able to afford those weapons CW.

Don't know of any government weapons now a days that are carbon steel. It's all for show any more. No weapons value to a sword. For that money you might as well try your luck on Ebay or go to barretts and shop their originals. www.jonathanbarrett.com/

Thanks for the link Dave! I've not seen that many fine swords in one place before. CW.
